All right, guys. I'm seriously thinking of overhauling the comic. What do you think?

--Shem Hotep!--

I just tried coloring a page with a Wacom Intuos. I couldn't even finish the fucking sky let alone the rest of the picture. My eyes are killing me! How do you bastards USE this thing? Your hand is in one place and the line you are making is like ten thousand miles away from it. How do you get used to that? Maybe my hands are abnormally shaky, but I could NOT get this thing to work the way it's supposed to. I'd need a screen tablet. Only now I don't want one at all because the thing doesn't register that you're using it unless it's within a micron on the tablet, but if you move it that close you actually make contact half the time and contact means you get a stupid line in a place you didn't want. There's a button on the side of the pen which seems to be useless. It would be nice if you just kept the pen down and pressed the button for clicking, but that would be too fucking easy, wouldn't it? I can used colored pencils fast than this and get nicer results. Still not happy about it because it's so damn grainy it looks like I used crayons, but at least the color will go where I want it to.

Oh, and photoshop has only two shades of yellow: booger and urine. So the sun was looking like a pee stain. It's going to be colored pencils or markers, so grain or marker streaks. DEAL WITH IT. I GIVE UP. I hate coloring, but I cannot afford to pay anyone else to do it for me because of the car accident.

Maybe I could just post lineart. Or do this in strictly black and white. I don't know. I'm so mad at myself. I wish my coloring skill was at least close to matching my drawing, but it just ISN'T. And don't freaking comment and tell me it is because I'm sick of the flattery. Honestly? I think I draw really well and color badly. I don't hate my work, I'm just frustrated. I should probably just suck it up and color the damn thing and let my coloring skills improve with practice like my drawing did.

**Hotep is updated every Tuesday, but is on a brief hiatus while I overhaul the beginning. I am absolutely NOT giving up, I have NOT run out of ideas, I'm just taking the time to do a decent job. New pages will appear very soon. You can find Hotep here on DA or at this link: [link] **

I've been tableting for like 7 years. You do get used to drawing and not being able to look down and see what you're doing but look up at the screen. And tablets you get used to eventually as a whole. I love my tablets and I'd never pay for a screen-in-tablet because that's such a waste of money when a perfectly find bamboo is just as good if you give it a bit of practice. I used to be horribly shakey but now I'm like totally chill.

And heck, I'd help you with coloring for free. =P S'what friends are for, yes?

And coloring can be a bitch. This is why I stuck with digital coloring for so long, I'm still not always fond of my traditional coloring cause I HATE marker lines and haven't figured out how to kill them yet. When I use my stupid blender pens it always just murdered the rest of the color. xD Traditional coloring is such a bitch. I envy people who produce such smooth marker pictures. @_@

And.. why does your PS only have like two color groups?? O_o; Do you use web friendly colors..?

You could always resort to screen tones!

*Puts up her hands* Don't look at me, I own two tablets and I STILL can't use the stupid things right! .... Which is why I don't do shit on the computer (if I could get someone to LINEART for me I'd be fine, otherwise I'm screwed!). But I hear ya on the eye strain, it's a bitch trying to do that on the computer.

I'd be willing to help with coloring (if it's on the computer and the lineart is done, I'm not perfect at shading properly but I don't do too bad). Color pencil-wise.... I use Crayola. ^^; I love how nice red always looks with it. ^^; I'm horrible. ^^;

Personally though, if you really don't like the coloring job, you always COULD do black and white. Always did look good with certain comics, and I think Hotep might be one it does well with. That's just me. ^^;

I don't know about photoshop, man. when I tilt the screen the colors look okay, but then how do I know which way is the right way? I'm not terrible with pencils, it's just that some colors are grainy no matter what you do unless you have really expensive paper which I am not getting.

I think my fashion sense is so bad because when I was little, I imprinted the neon 80's clothing from my first Barbie doll much as a bird imprints its mother's appearance.

What kind of pencils do you use? Prismas? If you don't want to get the fancy Prisma pencils, you can buy a Prisma blender pencil which blends even cheap pencils together. I've done it before and it at least blurs some of the graininess.

And... tilting the screen...? Why/how are you tilting the screen? Like, the actual monitor? O_o or flipping the picture? *confused* XD

Expensive paper, eh? I just use scrap printer paper my grandma brings home from her job. I have Bristol sketch books but I don't think they're anything special when I actually use Pencils. They do make using markers a lot easier tho and a little less sketchy.
